Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Advanced Tunnel project: the second TBM Rexy began tunnelling last week

We are proud to share that another milestone has been achieved on the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Advanced Tunnel project: the second TBM Rexy began tunnelling last week.

The scope of work includes the design and construction of launch and extraction shafts, 6.3-kilometre long twin tunnels, installation of precast concrete tunnel liner, nine cross-passages, headwalls for four future subway stations as well as an extensive program for relocating and protecting existing utilities.

The ECWE is the first phase of work for the 9.2-kilometre extension of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit. The extension will run primarily underground and westward from the future Mount Dennis Station at Weston Road, to Renforth Drive. The system will connect to the GO Kitchener Line and Union-Pearson (UP) Express at Mount Dennis Station, TTC bus services in Toronto, as well as GO and MiWay bus services.
