Ghella at the Pininfarina Architecture Summer School

The Pininfarina Architecture Summer School – 3X3X3 has officially begun: an outstanding international initiative promoted by Pininfarina proudly supported by Ghella.

Held in Turin from July 14th to 25th, 2025, the Summer School offers young architects and students from around the world a unique opportunity to explore the future of design, advanced design methods, and DfMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) in architecture. Over two weeks, participants are immersed in workshops, keynote lectures, practical activities and visits, all designed to foster cross-disciplinary exchange and inspire dialogue between industry professionals and the next generation of designers.

We had the pleasure of leading a dedicated workshop focused on our area of expertise: infrastructure, and the design and production of precast concrete tunnel lining segments.

 Our session featured contributions from:

  1. Matteo d’Aloja – Head of External Relations, Communications and Sustainability
  2. Massimo Maffucci – Tunnel Division Manager Overseas
  3. Alessandra Tana – Precast Concrete Tunnel Lining Manager

During the workshop, we shared with students the key aspects of our work in the tunnelling sector, with a particular focus on technologies, manufacturing processes, innovation and sustainability in the production of tunnel segments. Precast segments represent a tangible example of how the industrialisation of manufacturing processes, aligned with DfMA principles, can generate solutions that are sustainable, efficient, and technologically advanced.

Ghella made a tangible contribution to the Academy by offering 4 scholarships out of a total of 12 participants. By supporting this initiative, we renew our commitment to the education and development of young talents, contributing to building a dialogue between those who imagine and those who deliver the infrastructure of the future.

The initiative has also received the patronage of ADI and the Fondazione per l’Architettura Torino.
