Hanoi Metro Line 3: the final breakthrough of the Than Toc TBM has been completed

Our team has reached a major milestone for Hanoi Metro Line 3: TBM #1, named Than Tochas successfully completed its final breakthrough at Station S12, marking the full completion of the 2.6-kilometre twin-tube tunnels of the underground section. Designed and built by Herrenknecht, Than Toc is an EPB TBM with a diameter of 6.60 metres, a length of over 100 metres, and a weight of approximately 850 tonnes.

Pilot Light Line 3 will have a capacity of 200,000 passengers per day. Line 3, known as the Văn Miêu Line (The Temple of Literature Line), is expected to be the most used, extending 12.5 km in total, with 8.5 km on elevated tracks and 4 km underground. Ghella is involved in the excavation of the underground section, which includes 2.6 km of twin tunnels bored in parallel using two EPB TBMs, along with the construction of four stations: Kim Ma, Cat Linh, Van Mieu, and Hanoi.
