Massimiliano Terenzi selected as finalist in the category Young Tunneller of the Year at the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2023

Ghella is proud to announce that Massimiliano Terenzi, Tunnel Manager of the Western Sydney Airport Project in Sydney, has been selected as finalist in the category Young Tunneller of the Year, at the ITA Tunnelling awards 2023.

This is the fourth consecutive year that a company’s employee is nominated for this award.

The Young Tunneller of the Year rewards an individual born after 1987 who has made an active contribution to the tunneling.

Massimiliano has joined the company back in 2018 for the Mae Ngat Mae Kuang Hydraulic Tunnel Project in Chiang Mai, in Thailand built by Ghella’s sister Company TunnelPro. After coming back to Europe, he was assigned to the Hinkley Point C (Intake 2 and Outfall) Project in the UK, where he was quickly promoted to the role of TBM Manager for the three parallel tunnels excavated with EPB TBMs. Since 2022, Massimiliano is the Tunnel Manager of the Western Sydney Airport Project and responsible for the two EPB TBMs, employed for the first time in New South Wales.

The project, started in 2021, is transforming Greater Sydney, reducing travel times, and making it easier and faster to get around Australia’s largest city. The new 23-Kilometer railway will connect residential areas with business centers and transport travelers from the new airport to the rest of Sydney’s public transport system.

Ghella wishes good luck to Massimiliano!
