Matanza-Riachuelo River Project, TBM Elisa achieved breakthrough

Elisa has achieved breakthrough on the 16th of November 2020 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The TBM is now being dismantled on surface. 

The EPB TBM, with a 3,8 mt diameter, has completed the excavation of a tunnel under the Matanza-Riachuelo river for a length of more than 9 km and a total of 7,906 rings.

Elisa has excavated on average 19 mt per day, with a peak of almost 34 mt excavated in a single day.

The Matanza Riachuelo river catchment development includes the left margin collector, the Baja Costanera collector deviation and complementary works.

The project, funded by the World Bank, will benefit more than 300,000 people living in flood affected areas.
